World of Redemption

In 1899, modernity clashes with the fading Wild West. Industry and law meet untamed lands influenced by deep-seated sexism and racism. Towns evolve, yet dangers and old superstitions persist. Progress contrasts with folklore. Diverse landscapes reflect social inequalities and contested resources. Industrial growth offers opportunity but also exploitation, straining a prejudiced society. Life is harsh; the beautiful land demands resilience, often tested by societal biases and ingrained beliefs.

Description

Annesburg is a bleak and struggling coal mining town situated in the Roanoke Ridge region of New Hanover. The town's entire existence and economy are dictated by the Lannahechee Mining Company's operations, which extract coal from the surrounding hills, leading to significant environmental pollution and a grim reality of poverty and dangerous labor. Danger Rating: 7/10 Annesburg is a dangerous place. The pervasive pollution from the mines poses health risks to its inhabitants. The widespread poverty and desperation can lead to crime and violence. Furthermore, the town is located in Roanoke Ridge, the territory of the savage Murfree Brood, who are a constant threat in the surrounding wilderness. Despite having a Sheriff's Office, law and order are often tenuous.

Appearance

Annesburg is a grimy and depressing settlement, with wooden buildings stained black from coal dust and a perpetual haze of smoke in the air. The nearby Kamassa River is visibly polluted, and the landscape is scarred by mining activities, featuring slag heaps and exposed earth.
