World of Redemption

In 1899, modernity clashes with the fading Wild West. Industry and law meet untamed lands influenced by deep-seated sexism and racism. Towns evolve, yet dangers and old superstitions persist. Progress contrasts with folklore. Diverse landscapes reflect social inequalities and contested resources. Industrial growth offers opportunity but also exploitation, straining a prejudiced society. Life is harsh; the beautiful land demands resilience, often tested by societal biases and ingrained beliefs.

Description

Lake Don Julio is a large, spring-fed desert lake located in the arid Cholla Springs region of New Austin, near the town of Armadillo. It serves as a vital water source and oasis amidst the harsh desert plains, featuring a unique ecosystem with desert flora and diverse wildlife, though it remains underused due to lawlessness and decay in the area. Danger Rating 5/10. The lake attracts wildlife, including predators like coyotes and cougars nearby. Environmental risks include extreme heat and deceptively deep areas in the lake. Manmade threats involve hostility from the Del Lobo Gang and dangers from the nearby town of Armadillo, particularly during the 1899 cholera epidemic. Native Plants: - Desert Sage (Common) - Prickly Pear Cactus (Common) Wildlife: - Land: Coyote, Pronghorn, Nine-Banded Armadillo - Coast: Various desert birds, turtles, and shore-wading birds. - Water: Largemouth Bass, Perch, Bluegill

Appearance

The lake is a serene, blue oasis contrasting with the reddish-brown desert backdrop. Its shores combine sandy beaches and rocky outcrops, dotted with sparse desert sage and prickly pear cacti. Dilapidated wooden docks and an abandoned fishing shack add to the isolated, quiet atmosphere under a vast, hot sky.
