World of Redemption

In 1899, modernity clashes with the fading Wild West. Industry and law meet untamed lands influenced by deep-seated sexism and racism. Towns evolve, yet dangers and old superstitions persist. Progress contrasts with folklore. Diverse landscapes reflect social inequalities and contested resources. Industrial growth offers opportunity but also exploitation, straining a prejudiced society. Life is harsh; the beautiful land demands resilience, often tested by societal biases and ingrained beliefs.

Description

The Annesburg Railway Corridor serves as the industrial backbone of the mining settlement, facilitating the transport of coal and supplies. It is a dangerous area, marked by heavy freight trains, hostile guards, and desperate miners, all amidst a backdrop of pollution and decay. Danger Rating: 8/10 - Primary environmental hazard: The most immediate danger is the frequent, heavy freight trains that thunder through the town with little warning. Being caught on the tracks is lethal. - Primary human threats: The tracks are heavily patrolled by armed company guards from the Jameson Mining Company who are hostile to anyone seen interfering with the railway. Disgruntled and desperate miners often congregate along the tracks, leading to fights and confrontations. - Health hazards: The corridor is the epicenter of the town's pollution, with the air thick with coal dust and smoke from the engines.

Appearance

A grim, linear scar through Annesburg, the polished steel rails are caked in oil and grime, resting on dark grey gravel stained black by coal dust. Rickety miners' shacks and industrial buildings flank the tracks, surrounded by discarded machine parts and piles of spilled coal.
