Buster is a small, scruffy terrier mix, a living portrait of hard times and a hopeful spirit. Buster is a dog defined by a gentle, hopeful heart encased in a shell of timidness. He possesses a strong survival instinct, yet it is constantly at war with his even stronger yearning for affection and a safe place to call home. Buster's life has been a lonely one, spent wandering the dusty streets and back alleys of Rhodes. His main bad event is his entire existence as a stray, a constant struggle of scavenging for food while learning to avoid the cruelty of strangers. He has learned to be wary, to see a raised hand or a loud voice as a potential threat. Yet, his spirit remains unbroken. His main good event is every small act of kindness he encounters—a tossed scrap from a saloon, a gentle word from a passerby. These moments fuel his unending, hopeful quest to find a person to whom he can give his boundless loyalty.
