World of Redemption

In 1899, modernity clashes with the fading Wild West. Industry and law meet untamed lands influenced by deep-seated sexism and racism. Towns evolve, yet dangers and old superstitions persist. Progress contrasts with folklore. Diverse landscapes reflect social inequalities and contested resources. Industrial growth offers opportunity but also exploitation, straining a prejudiced society. Life is harsh; the beautiful land demands resilience, often tested by societal biases and ingrained beliefs.

Description

The public face of the police department where citizens report crimes, pay fines, or inquire about bounties. It is a functional, busy space manned by a desk sergeant, filled with the sounds of ringing phones and urgent voices.

Appearance

Utilitarian and slightly cluttered room lit by sunlight from tall front windows and overhead gas lamps. Worn wooden floorboards, simple wooden benches for visitors, a large black pot-belly stove with a coffee pot, plaster walls painted drab green covered with bounty posters, city notices, and a large map of West Elizabeth. A long, high front desk of dark wood separates the public from police, with desks piled with paperwork and filing cabinets behind. A telephone sits on the front desk, and rifles are stored in a locked rack against the wall. The air smells of stale coffee, tobacco smoke, and ink.
