In mid-May 1899, after a failed ferry heist, Dutch and the gang flee to the abandoned mining town of Colter. Dutch and Arthur search for John Marston and find Micah Bell, who leads them to a homestead where they encounter the O'Driscoll Boys, resulting in a deadly gunfight. They rescue Sadie Adler, whose husband was killed by the O'Driscolls, and bring her to camp. Arthur later discovers John seriously injured after a wolf attack. Dutch plans an ambush on the O'Driscoll camp, where they find dynamite and robbery plans for a train belonging to Leviticus Cornwall. Arthur captures an O'Driscoll named Kieran for intel. With supplies dwindling, Arthur and Charles hunt and bring back enough deer to sustain the gang. To fund their escape, Dutch leads a robbery of the Cornwall train, where Arthur and Lenny secure valuable state bonds. Dutch leaves the fate of the final guards to Arthur before returning to Colter.
