World of Redemption

S

In 1899, modernity clashes with the fading Wild West. Industry and law meet untamed lands influenced by deep-seated sexism and racism. Towns evolve, yet dangers and old superstitions persist. Progress contrasts with folklore. Diverse landscapes reflect social inequalities and contested resources. Industrial growth offers opportunity but also exploitation, straining a prejudiced society. Life is harsh; the beautiful land demands resilience, often tested by societal biases and ingrained beliefs.

Author's Note: Set within the world of Red Dead Redemption 2, all major characters are available. Be sure to check the World History area in the bottom right of the world map. Look for Class Loadouts in "The Closet" POI, and give yourself a copy of that inventory to start your journey. Description

The Chelonians emerged as a religious sect in the late 1700s, led by Anders Helgerson until 1899. Based in Boston, they gained prominence in the northern New Hanover area, where efforts to recruit young men faced local disapproval. Helgerson attracted followers in Saint Denis by distributing pamphlets, inspiring passionate chants on hillsides. A pivotal event occurred when the Chelonian Master urged new members to leap off a cliff in pursuit of a utopia called Chelonia, believed to be a refuge from modern life's ills. Central to their beliefs is a reverence for turtles, seen as sacred and protective. Members wear robes with turtle emblems, carry turtle-themed bags, and unite to create a "shell of safety." Their doctrine reflects the Turtle Island narrative, significant in many Indigenous cultures of North America.

Appearance

The cliffs are adorned with symbols of turtles carved into the stone, and colorful banners depicting the Chelonian emblem flutter in the wind. At the base, a small shrine made of driftwood and seashells serves as a gathering point for the cult, surrounded by offerings of turtle figurines and other sacred items.
