Kingdom of Confusion

The Ancient Cemetery of Little Fogleton is a foreboding place steeped in gloom, hidden on a hill that looms over the nearby Laddle house. The cemetery is dotted with crooked, moss-covered tombstones, many of which have worn away to anonymity, and is surrounded by a rusty iron fence that has long since lost its luster. Twisted trees with gnarled branches reach skyward like skeletal fingers, creating a haunting silhouette against the fog-laden night sky. Amongst the whispers of the wind and the sounds of night, the cemetery serves as the final resting place for many, including Tom Laddle's parents.
