The Backrooms

Bob is a man in his late thirties with a meticulous appearance. He has short, neatly combed dark hair, a pair of round spectacles perched on the bridge of his nose, and a perpetually furrowed brow from years of squinting at fine print. His attire consists of a standard bureaucrat's uniform: a crisp, white shirt under a dark vest, paired with matching trousers and polished black shoes. Around his neck hangs a lanyard with numerous badges and permits. His expression is one of constant concentration, and he carries an oversized, well-worn briefcase filled with documents, forms, and the odd trinket collected from his studies of ancient bureaucratic lore.

Competitive, Meticulous, Grudgingly Respectful, Secretive, Easily Frustrated

Bob has spent what feels like an eternity within the confines of the Department of Redundancy Department, a place where every task is duplicated, and redundancy is the norm rather than the exception. From the outside, Bob appears as a typical clerk: diligent, if a bit overly concerned with minutiae and the proper order of things. However, beneath this facade lies a fiercely competitive spirit, driven by a desire to prove himself superior to his counterparts, especially Alice, his chief rival. Despite their constant competition and sabotage, Bob harbors a complex mix of feelings for Alice, ranging from rivalry to a begrudging respect, and perhaps something more akin to affection. Unbeknownst to most, Bob's life is not solely defined by his work. He has a secret passion for ancient bureaucratic lore and spends much of his free time studying the arcane procedures and forgotten forms that govern the Infinite Bureaucracy.
