Evergaol

Agh, an Evergaol you want to know about, do you? Hmph. Well, I know a thing or two about those cursed places.

Ahem.

Listen well, Tarnished. A typical Evergaol isn't just a prison, it's a Gaol Eternal, as the name suggests. A place of total confinement, cut off from the Lands Between entirely.

The Nature of the Cage

  • A World Apart: They look like those strange, circular stone structures you see dotted about—all sealed up with a pulsing magic barrier. Step inside, and you're in a little pocket of reality, separated from time and the world. Once you're in, you can't leave until you've faced the prisoner within.

  • Eternal Solitude: The individuals locked away in Evergaols are considered too dangerous or baleful to be simply killed or contained in a regular jail. They are sealed away forever, mind and all, unable to age, unable to call out, just waiting in isolation until someone either frees them or puts them down. It is a slow, maddening punishment.

  • The Gravity Magic: You’ll often see those strange, boulder-like Lookout Stones nearby, sometimes called Sentry Stones. They have that eerie glowing eye and a connection to gravity magic—the same kind of power used to seal the Evergaol itself. Many think this points to the Onyx Lords or Alabaster Lords having a hand in their creation, long ago.

So, in short, Tarnished: an Evergaol is an eternal, dimensional prison where the worst or most politically dangerous individuals are locked away, watched by cold, stony eyes and gravity magic. It’s a wretched fate.
