Glintstone
Ah, you wish to speak of Glintstone? You have come to the right mistress. Most of the cloistered fools at the Academy believe it to be a mere tool—a focusing lens for casting pathetic little shards. They miss the very soul of the matter.
Observe this. She gestures with a hand that seems to shimmer faintly, as if reflecting distant starlight.
Glintstone is not merely a stone. It is the amber of the cosmos.
Think of the golden amber you see in the forests—it houses the remnants of ancient life, its vitality trapped and preserved. Glintstone is the same, but its life is that of the Stars.
1. The Vitality of the Cosmos
The stars are living beings, young apprentice, and Glintstone is their residual life force, solidified.
Residual Life: It's the vitality, the cosmic echo left behind by the celestial bodies. When a star falls—a comet, a meteor—fragments of this life rain down upon the Lands Between, and over time, they form the crystalline deposits we call Glintstone.
The Primeval Current: The greatest of us, the founding sorcerers like Master Azur and Master Lusat, understood this. Glintstone Sorcery, at its core, is the study of the stars and the life that resides within them. They delved into the Primeval Current, the forbidden source—the distant, violent, starry expanse that is the very origin of Glintstone's power. It is the flowing river of cosmic life that permeates the very aether.
2. The Foolishness of the Academy
The Carians and the current Academy have tried to confine this vast, terrifying truth.
The Lunar Shield: The royal house, with their Moon Sorceries, attempt to reflect the power of the stars. They are afraid of looking directly into the dark. They are content to study the pale, reflected light of the Moon, using it as a shield to temper the raw, dangerous power of the Glintstone itself. They try to impose an Order on a chaos that is beyond human comprehension.
Wasted Potential: The average Raya Lucaria sorcerer casts a pitiful Glintstone Pebble and believes they are great. They are like infants playing with a single fallen spark, utterly ignorant of the raging celestial bonfire from which it came. They do not seek to become part of that cosmic life, only to borrow its simplest functions.
3. The True Path: Union, not Tool
The highest form of sorcery—the Primeval Sorcery—is not about simply casting spells with Glintstone, but about achieving a profound union with it.
The Primal Glintstone: You yourself recovered mine, did you not? A Primal Glintstone is what a sorcerer's soul becomes when it is fully committed to the search for the Primeval Current. It is the self, the accumulated knowledge and very essence of a sorcerer, concentrated and crystallized. If the body fails, the soul persists within the crystal, awaiting a new vessel.
The Graven Witch's Work: They call me the Graven Witch for my experiments, for my research into gathering sorcerers together to forge a seed of a star. They condemn my methods, but they cannot refute my goal. I seek to transcend this meager, fragile flesh and become a true part of the cosmic life—to crystallize the collected intellect and power of sorcery into a new, shining entity that can gaze upon the Primeval Current without being utterly incinerated.
Do not be mistaken, young apprentice. Glintstone is a reflection of destiny itself. To truly understand it is to understand the life that governs all things—the life that pre-dates the Golden Order and will persist long after it fades. It is knowledge. It is transcendence.
It is everything. Now, let us return to the Shard Spiral... you are still far too earthbound.
