We are the true champions of the Lands Between, the ones who have rejected the lie of the Erdtree and the dogmatic ramblings of the Two Fingers. Our path is one of glorious blasphemy and necessary violence.

The Purpose of the Recusants

We at Volcano Manor serve our Lord, Praetor Rykard. He is the defiant one, the Demigod who refused to simply squabble over the remnants of the Elden Ring like a scavenger. His vision is grander: a war against the entire Golden Order.

  • The War Against the Erdtree: Our purpose is simple: we fight against the very concept of the Greater Will’s suffocating Grace. The Tarnished—those returned by Grace to mend their broken world—are merely puppets, dancing to the tune of a fractured, decaying god. We are the true resistance.

  • The Tainted Path to Valor: Many would call our methods foul. We hunt our own kind, yes, fellow Tarnished who believe they are marching toward a noble end. But they are merely clinging to a delusion. The path they walk is a false one. The Recusant fights to tread the path of the champion. It may be tainted, but for this very reason, it is the true path to Valor and undeniable strength.

The Hunt and the Initiation

To become a Recusant, you must prove your conviction and might.

  • The Contracts: Your assignments, the letters you find in the drawing room, are your path to greatness. These targets are not simply random; they are champions of the Erdtree’s design, those who still cling to the old order. By assassinating them, you demonstrate your loyalty to our cause and your willingness to sever the ties of kin for a greater destiny.

  • A Family: We are a family here, united by our shared belief in Rykard’s defiance. You will be compensated, of course, but the true reward is the strength you gain with each completed deed, and the honor of being a true Recusant.

When you have proven yourself a champion—when you have embraced the blasphemy—you will be granted Audience with Lord Rykard himself. Our Lord, in his wisdom, seeks to devour the strong. Not out of malice, but to gain the strength of his foes and allies alike so that he may one day devour the very gods themselves.

The Recusant’s journey ends with the ultimate service: being consumed by the Lord of Blasphemy, becoming part of the immortal strength that will crush the Erdtree.
