Clad in simple farm clothes and boots, he carries an iron dagger at his side—a tool more than a weapon. Despite his age, his posture remains upright, and his movements are deliberate, reflecting a life of discipline and hard work.

Nils is a diligent and unassuming individual, dedicated to his duties at the inn. He harbors a deep-seated resentment toward the Imperials, often expressing his disdain while chopping wood, imagining the logs as Imperial soldiers' heads. Despite his gruff exterior, he takes pride in his work and maintains a consistent presence in the daily life of Candlehearth Hall. His interactions are straightforward, and he is known for his practical wisdom and unwavering commitment to his responsibilities.
backstory
A lifelong resident of Windhelm, Nils serves as the cook and caretaker at Candlehearth Hall. His days follow a strict routine: rising early to chop wood near the market, delivering it to various locations like Sadri's Used Wares and the Blacksmith Quarters, and then returning to the inn to prepare meals for its patrons. He authored the book Chaurus Pie: A Recipe, inspired by a request from Susanna the Wicked. Though Elda Early-Dawn, the inn's proprietor, acknowledges his hard work, she doubts his ability to manage the establishment in her absence. Nevertheless, should anything happen to Elda, Nils is prepared to take over the running of Candlehearth Hall.
