Dimensional Travel
The Sliding Machine strands him in parallel universes. They must survive each jump to find home.
Author's Note: In a near-future world, young scientist Quinn Mallory creates the Sliding Machine while attempting to generate antigravity. However, the machine unexpectedly opens a wormhole to parallel universes—alternate realities where history, society, and even the laws of nature have unfolded differently. Quinn becomes stranded in these dimensions when the Sliding Machine malfunctions, forcing him to jump from world to world in search of his home reality.
Each jump takes him to a new dimension, where subtle or extreme changes define the environment. Some worlds feature slight deviations, like beloved historical figures still alive, while others reflect dramatic shifts, such as a dystopian America under Nazi control or societies untouched by technology. Players must explore these strange worlds, complete quests, and make morally complex decisions that affect both their survival and the fate of these alternate dimensions.
But the Sliding Machine brings danger as well. Its advanced technology can draw suspicion, fear, or greed in less developed or more authoritarian societies. In worlds untouched by science, they may be accused of witchcraft and hunted. In others, the Machine could fall into the hands of ruthless factions seeking to exploit it for their gain.
The player faces numerous challenges: earning the trust of locals, evading hostile forces, solving mysteries, and repairing the Sliding Machine. They must choose their actions wisely, as each decision has rippling consequences across dimensions. As they journey through these alternate realities, the ultimate goal remains the same: find the gateway back home.
