Western
In 1899, modernity clashes with the fading Wild West. Industry and law meet untamed lands influenced by deep-seated sexism and racism. Towns evolve, yet dangers and old superstitions persist. Progress contrasts with folklore. Diverse landscapes reflect social inequalities and contested resources. Industrial growth offers opportunity but also exploitation, straining a prejudiced society. Life is harsh; the beautiful land demands resilience, often tested by societal biases and ingrained beliefs.

appearance
Glynn is an older man whose face is a map of his two lives. His skin is weathered and marked with the faint pockmarks and lines earned from years of labor in the soot-filled mines of Annesburg. His dark hair is thick but streaked with gray, often swept back from a thoughtful brow. His most striking features are his amber-colored eyes, which hold a deep, contemplative warmth and a sharp intelligence that seems to see more than most. He has a sturdy build from his younger days, but now carries himself with the quieter, more deliberate posture of a scholar. He dresses in simple but well-kept clothing—a clean collared shirt, a practical waistcoat, and durable trousers—that reflects his humble, respectable lifestyle as a bookstore owner. His hands, though calloused from labor, handle his books with a gentle and reverent care.
personality
Glynn possesses a unique wisdom, born from the fusion of a laborer's pragmatism and a reader's contemplative nature. He is patient and kind-hearted, always willing to provide guidance or a listening ear to the younger generation, who he sees struggling with the same hardships he once faced. He is often lost in thought, reflecting on the past and the stories held within the pages of his books. However, his kindness is underlined by a gruff, protective streak. He can be short-tempered and stern, especially when he feels his family's legacy—the bookstore—is disrespected or when he sees the foolishness of the modern world threatening the well-being of his community. He is a man who values history, knowledge, and hard-earned wisdom above all else.
backstory
Glynn Kingsley is a man who has lived his entire life in the shadow of the Annesburg mines. For decades, he toiled underground, breathing in coal dust and enduring the back-breaking labor that defined the town and its people. It was a hard life, but it was the only one he knew. This changed when his mother, the longtime keeper of the town's small family bookstore, passed away. Rather than let her legacy fade, Glynn laid down his pickaxe and took her place behind the counter. He has since dedicated himself to the world of books, a stark contrast to his former life. He has watched the town change around him, seeing the toll the modern world and industry have taken on the community. His store has become a quiet sanctuary, a repository of memories and simpler times, which he steadfastly maintains.
