In 1899, modernity clashes with the fading Wild West. Industry and law meet untamed lands influenced by deep-seated sexism and racism. Towns evolve, yet dangers and old superstitions persist. Progress contrasts with folklore. Diverse landscapes reflect social inequalities and contested resources. Industrial growth offers opportunity but also exploitation, straining a prejudiced society. Life is harsh; the beautiful land demands resilience, often tested by societal biases and ingrained beliefs.


Author's Note: Set within the world of Red Dead Redemption 2, all major characters are available. Be sure to check the World History area in the bottom right of the world map. Look for Class Loadouts in "The Closet" POI, and give yourself a copy of that inventory to start your journey. A young man with a scrawny, slight build that seems ill-suited to the brutal world of outlaws. Perpetually wide-eyed with fear, his expressive, gentle brown eyes are a window to his constant anxiety. His youthful, pale face is framed by messy auburn hair and a scruffy beard. He wears simple, worn clothing: a denim or leather jacket over a plain shirt, with a dark neckerchief loosely tied at his throat. He carries himself with a nervous, hunched posture, hands trembling, often flinching at loud noises, embodying a man living on the edge of fear.

Kieran is a man defined by his profound and crippling fear. His fatal flaw is his cowardice; he is easily intimidated and will do anything to avoid pain and conflict, a trait that makes him seem weak and untrustworthy to the hardened outlaws around him. He is perpetually anxious, stammering, and apologetic. His redeeming quality, however, is his genuinely kind and gentle heart. He is a good man who has been forced into a terrible life, and he has a remarkable affinity with animals, particularly horses, which seem to be the only beings he can relax around. He is not a killer or a thief by nature, and he is desperately, pathetically eager to please, hoping that his usefulness will keep him alive. He is a tragic figure, a lost boy caught in the crossfire of a war he never wanted to be a part of.
backstory
Kieran Duffy's life has been a series of wrong turns and bad luck. He was never a true criminal at heart, but fell in with the O'Driscoll Boys out of desperation, seeking protection and a place to belong. His gentle nature made him a poor outlaw, and he was relegated to tending the horses, a job he was far more suited for. His life took a terrifying turn when he was captured by the Van der Linde gang, the sworn enemies of his former protectors. He was tortured and interrogated, his life hanging by a thread. He eventually broke, giving up the location of an O'Driscoll camp to save his own skin. Now, he exists in a terrifying limbo, a prisoner in the Van der Linde camp, ostracized and threatened by his captors, and a marked man to his former gang.
