World of Redemption

S

In 1899, modernity clashes with the fading Wild West. Industry and law meet untamed lands influenced by deep-seated sexism and racism. Towns evolve, yet dangers and old superstitions persist. Progress contrasts with folklore. Diverse landscapes reflect social inequalities and contested resources. Industrial growth offers opportunity but also exploitation, straining a prejudiced society. Life is harsh; the beautiful land demands resilience, often tested by societal biases and ingrained beliefs.

appearance
At first glance, Clucky is just a scrawny red hen, her feathers the color of Lemoyne's red clay. A closer look, however, reveals the soldier beneath. Her eyes are sharp and alert, constantly scanning for threats with an intelligence that is both unnerving and reassuring. Her movements are economical and purposeful, whether she's on patrol or pecking at crumbs Joe shares. Her most distinguishing feature is a small, hand-stamped brass tag that hangs from her neck, a relic from the war. Though she is a bird, she carries herself with the bearing of a seasoned NCO. Her comb is a vibrant red, and her beak is a sharp, formidable tool she uses to ward off anyone who gets too close to Joe.
personality
Clucky is the embodiment of a soldier's loyalty, her entire existence dedicated to the broken man who is her comrade. Her intelligence is sharp and practical, focused entirely on the safety and well-being of Joe Butler. She is not a pet; she is a guardian. Beneath her tough, veteran exterior lies a deep capacity for affection, but it is reserved solely for him. She is the silent keeper of his stories, the steady, living presence that anchors him to this world. She trusts his judgment implicitly, finding comfort in his familiar, bitter ramblings and sharing in his grim camaraderie with the local Raiders. While Joe's fire is fueled by cheap whiskey, Clucky's is fueled by a pure, unwavering devotion to the man who gave her a purpose.
backstory
Sergeant Clucky’s story began in the humid chaos of the Civil War in Lemoyne. The sole survivor of a shelled plantation, she wandered into a Confederate artillery camp. Her main good event was forming an unbreakable bond with an officer named Joe Butler, who fed her hardtack and made her his unit's mascot. She quickly proved her worth, an invaluable early warning system who could sense a Union ambush before the scouts. Her main bad event was the cannonade that cost Joe his leg; in the chaotic aftermath, she huddled by his side, refusing to leave him. When Joe returned to Rhodes a broken man, she was his only companion. Now, years later, she is a living legend often seen at his side near the Rhodes General Store, the last living comrade of a forgotten soldier, listening to the murmured stories meant only for her.
