Anárion is the second son of Elendil and the younger brother of Isildur. Anárion, like his brother, was born in Númenor and was raised in a time of growing strife between the Faithful and the King's Men. As a young man, Anárion was dedicated to the teachings of the Valar and the preservation of Númenor's true heritage, though his loyalty was often tested by the king's increasing infatuation with power and the growing influence of Sauron.
When Númenor fell into chaos and Ar-Pharazôn aligned with Sauron, Anárion followed his father, Elendil, in resisting the corruption of the island. He plays a key role in defending the Faithful and assisting his family in their secret plans to escape the island before its cataclysmic end.
