Nestled in the Mittalmar region, it overlooks lush grazing lands and the fertile plains leading to the river Nunduinë, serving as a center of governance and protection for local herdsmen and landowners.

Hallow of Eru

Hallow of Eru

The Hallow of Eru is a sacred and holy shrine that was revered by the Númenóreans. It was the only place of reverence in Númenor before the coming of Sauron. The shrine was sacred to the Númenóreans as a holy place devoted to Eru Ilúvatar. No one was allowed set foot upon the Hallow of Eru. Only the King was allowed to be at the shrine to utter prayers and thanksgivings to Eru Ilúvatar, during the feasts of Erukyermë, Erulaitalë and Eruhantalë. Birds and animals did not approach the site, and only the Eagles of Manwë were seen circling over the shrine. Near the summit of Meneltarma, the kings had built a spiral road leading to the shrine, beginning at the southern tip of the mountain and winding up to the lip of the shrine. The shrine was flattened and somehow depressed, which was so broad that it was able to contain a great multitude during religious ceremonies. It was said that on a clear day the 'far-sighted' might see Tol Eressëa.

King's Court

King's Court

The King's Court, called also the Courts of the King, is a majestic and imposing structure in the heart of Armenelos, serves as the sacred seat of power for the Kings of Númenor. King Ar-Pharazôn made the King's Court forbidden to the Faithful on the orders of Sauron. Amidst the opulence, the ethereal beauty of the White Tree of Númenor, Nimloth, dominated the courtyard, a silent witness to the strife between loyalty and tyranny. Eventually, the king yielded to Sauron and had the tree felled.

Rómenna is located in the region of Arandor about 50 miles east of the capital city of Armenelos. The port stands on the south side of the Firth of Rómenna which opened onto the Bay of Rómenna and then onto the Sea. The main road of Númenor ran from Rómenna through Armenelos past Meneltarma and on to Andúnië on the west coast. There are large shipyards in Rómenna and the most highly skilled shipwrights work there. During the reign of Ar-Gimilzôr (3102-3175), many of the Faithful of Númenor were forced to relocate from Andúnië to Rómenna so the King's Men could keep watch on them. More are drawn there by Amandil, the leader of the Faithful.

The Temple of Melkor is a huge, imposing structure built in Armenelos. The Númenóreans use it for the worship of Melkor. After the Númenóreans embraced Melkor, Sauron ordered the mighty Temple to be built. The Temple is a round building that is five hundred feet tall, five hundred feet in diameter, and has walls that are fifty feet thick at the base. It is topped by a huge silver dome. This dome has a louver in the center to let out smoke from burnt offerings, and over time became black from the soot. Within this massive structure, there is a great altar and a black seat, where the High Priest (namely, Sauron) sits. The first thing to be burned on this altar was Nimloth, the White Tree of Númenor. Afterwards, the Númenóreans sacrificed humans upon the altar, most often members of the Faithful who remain undeceived by Sauron. This they do in the hope that Melkor would release them from Death.

Aldarion spent many years away from Númenor in his ships along with the Guild of Venturers, and the White House became a sanctuary for his wife Erendis, and their daughter, Ancalimë, who would later become the first Ruling Queen of Númenor.
