The Temple of Melkor is a huge, imposing structure built in Armenelos. The Númenóreans use it for the worship of Melkor. After the Númenóreans embraced Melkor, Sauron ordered the mighty Temple to be built. The Temple is a round building that is five hundred feet tall, five hundred feet in diameter, and has walls that are fifty feet thick at the base. It is topped by a huge silver dome. This dome has a louver in the center to let out smoke from burnt offerings, and over time became black from the soot. Within this massive structure, there is a great altar and a black seat, where the High Priest (namely, Sauron) sits. The first thing to be burned on this altar was Nimloth, the White Tree of Númenor. Afterwards, the Númenóreans sacrificed humans upon the altar, most often members of the Faithful who remain undeceived by Sauron. This they do in the hope that Melkor would release them from Death.
A colossal round building with towering, fifty-foot thick walls at the base, crowned by a tarnished silver dome that casts an eerie reflection in the fading light. Dark smoke billows ominously from the louver at the top, staining the dome black, with shadows playing across the massive structure as the sun sets behind the hills of Númenor.
