backstory
Ionius IX was once a bold and ambitious emperor who sought to consolidate power within the Empire, fathering eleven children in his quest for dominance. However, after losing a power struggle to The Seven Houses during the Insurrection of the Seven, he became a mere puppet ruler, witnessing the suffering of his children at the hands of dark conspirators. His reign ended in 1180 when he abdicated the throne to his daughter, Edelgard, in a moment of bittersweet surrender, having been worn down by the weight of his failures and the loss of his family.
