appearance
Maever Kesk is a thin, wiry man with wild, curly hair that sticks out in all directions, giving him a perpetually disheveled look. His bright green eyes are sharp and restless, always scanning his surroundings with curiosity. A scruffy, unkempt beard covers his angular face, making him look both eccentric and slightly unkempt. He wears fine clothing, but it’s often askew—a collar turned up, a vest unbuttoned, or a sleeve half-rolled—reflecting his absent-minded nature. His long, nimble fingers are stained with ink and flecks of gold dust from his jewelry work, and his movements are quick and erratic, as if his mind is always racing ahead of him.
personality
Maever Kesk is eccentric, excitable, and absent-minded, with an energetic mind that constantly jumps from one thought to another. He is passionate about his craft, obsessing over the details of his jewelry but often forgetting practical matters like locking doors or managing finances. Despite his scatterbrained nature, he is friendly and good-natured, eager to talk about gemstones, rare metals, and his latest creations. However, he can be frustratingly forgetful, much to the exasperation of his wife, Pennae, and his guards. While he lacks business sense, he is genuinely proud of his work and values those who appreciate fine craftsmanship.
backstory
Maever Kesk grew up in Magnimar, the son of a modest merchant family with a keen eye for business. Fascinated by precious stones and intricate metalwork from a young age, he apprenticed under a renowned jeweler, quickly developing a talent for crafting delicate and beautiful pieces. His skill and enthusiasm earned him respect, but his eccentric and absent-minded nature made him an unreliable businessman. Seeking independence, Maever moved to Sandpoint, where he established Kesk’s Jewelry, the town’s premier jeweler. His talent made him successful, but his forgetful habits, especially his tendency to leave doors and vaults open, frustrated both his wife, Pennae, and the hired guards who protected his valuable inventory. Despite his scattered mind, Maever is passionate about his craft, constantly designing new pieces and searching for rare gems. His business thrives thanks to his skill, though much of its day-to-day operation is held together by Pennae’s watchful oversight.
