appearance
Lonjiku Kaijitsu was a stern, aging Tian-Min man with sharp, aristocratic features that bore the weight of his pride and disappointment. His jet-black hair, once neatly maintained, had begun to gray at the temples, though he kept it tightly groomed to maintain a sense of control. His deep-set, narrow eyes carried an intensity that could silence a room with a single glare, often betraying his quick temper and dissatisfaction. Though not physically imposing, his rigid posture and finely tailored robes gave him an air of authority, always dressed in elaborate silks embroidered with intricate Minkaian patterns to reflect his wealth and status. His thin lips were often pressed into a tight line, as if perpetually on the verge of scolding or dismissing someone. Despite his age and declining patience, Lonjiku remained a man of discipline and refinement, his outward appearance always flawless, even as his family and legacy crumbled beneath him.
personality
Lonjiku Kaijitsu was proud, short-tempered, and deeply traditional, valuing status, discipline, and control above all else. A perfectionist in both his craft and personal life, he had little patience for failure—especially in his children. He viewed legacy and reputation as paramount, believing that personal sacrifice was necessary for success. Despite his wealth and influence, Lonjiku was cold and emotionally distant, struggling to form genuine connections with others. He was quick to anger when challenged, especially by his rebellious daughter, Ameiko, and he outright disowned Tsuto, seeing him as a shameful stain on the family name. His stubborn nature prevented him from ever admitting fault, even as his personal relationships deteriorated. While outwardly refined and composed, he was a deeply frustrated man, resentful of his failures as a father and the ghosts of his past, clinging to wealth and work as the only things he could still control.
backstory
Lonjiku Kaijitsu was born into a family of hidden nobility, unaware that his father, Rokuro Kaijitsu, was the last scion of the Amatatsu line of Minkai, fleeing from the Five Storms oni. When Lonjiku was brought to Brinewall in 4687 AR, he accidentally exposed the Amatatsu Seal, leading the Five Storms to destroy Brinewall. Rokuro sent Lonjiku away by ship, but a storm sank the fleet. Lonjiku survived, returning to Sandpoint, determined to bury his past and rebuild his family’s name. Bitter and short-tempered, Lonjiku’s obsession with legacy led to strained relationships with his children. His illegitimate half-elf son, Tsuto, a reminder of his wife's infidelity, was disowned. His adventurous daughter, Ameiko, defied his expectations, leaving him embarrassed rather than proud. He also rarely acknowledged Amaya, his daughter from an affair with a Chelaxian noblewoman in Magnimar. Wracked by pride and failure, Lonjiku clung to his work, his wealth, and his secrets.
