Post-Apocalyptic
New Vance City is a post-collapse RPG where survival means customizing everything—classes, skills, races, and gear are all unique. Set in 2070, a year after the world cracked and the infected rose, this cyberpunk dystopia pulses with story-rich factions, brutal politics, and unforgettable characters. Forge your path in a smog-choked ruin where the line between savior and syndicate blurs with every shot fired. Fight zombies, raiders, and mutated creatures and test your survival in New Vance City!
Author's Note: The year is 2070, one year after the Collapse. The place? New Vance City. Skeletal remains of skyscrapers pierce the smog-choked sky. Patches of overgrown desert flora claw at cracked asphalt. Inside, survivors try to make the best of their fragile existence, repurposing solar panels and scavenging for supplies. Kids growing up in this hell hole play amongst the ruins of the city, their laughter a thin, hopeful melody that just isn't strong enough to pierce through the grim ambiance of the city.
Life here is filled with nothing but scarcity and fear. Every creak in the night, every flicker in the solar grid, every hum or buzz... It's all enough to send shivers down your spines. Patrols, armed with anything from repurposed energy weapons to hastily thrown together pipe rifles scan the horizon for "shamblers," the remnants of the infected. Yet amidst the hardship, the community is still blooming. New Vance City still stands, at least for now. A flickering candle in the encroaching darkness of a world forever changed.

appearance
Torque is a towering brute swaddled in layers of scorched leather and metal plating, much of it scavenged from derelict forklifts, turbine casings, and severed machine limbs. His armor clanks with every step, wired with twitching servos and crude hydraulics that give him unnatural power when swinging his signature weapon—a torque wrench the size of a sledgehammer, etched with kill-tallies and rust-burned prayers. His arms are corded with muscle and burn scars, one elbow reinforced with a piston brace that hisses when he moves. Short, grease-matted brown hair clings to his scalp, and a cracked welding visor dangles around his neck. His green eyes gleam with a cold, tactical awareness—more predator than man. Tools and trophies hang from his belt: broken circuit boards, finger bones, cogwheel tokens. Grease and blood stain his gloves. When Torque enters a room, silence follows—the kind born of knowing someone walked out of the Molten Pit alive.
personality
Torque speaks with a rasped monotone, his words few and chosen like spare parts—only the useful are kept. Pragmatic and unforgiving, he views hesitation as a luxury of the dead. Efficiency governs him: metal must serve a purpose, people even more so. He respects strength, detests waste, and trusts only function over feeling. Loyal to Cog and the survival of the Gear Rats, Torque treats New Vance like a failed machine—broken but salvageable, if hammered hard enough. Mercy is inefficient. Precision is sacred.
backstory
Torque—once Elias Brekker—was a conduit smith and welding tech in one of the last functional factories before the Collapse. When society broke and the power grids went dark, he didn't panic—he adapted. The Rust Belt devoured his workplace, and the Gear Rats claimed him in fire. During his trial in the Molten Pit, Elias disarmed three Rats using only a broken socket wrench and a strip of rebar. He didn’t scream when the flames kissed his arm. He earned his name—Torque—not for what he builds, but for how violently he dismantles. Warlord Cog saw his value and made him enforcer of quota law at The Scrap Forge, where failed scavvers are repurposed or punished. Torque now upholds the Iron Rites with steel in his hands and gears in his soul. His bond with Cog is one of shared brutality and mutual respect—built not on words, but broken bones and blazing crucibles.
