Author's Note: The year is 2070, one year after the Collapse. The place? New Vance City. Skeletal remains of skyscrapers pierce the smog-choked sky. Patches of overgrown desert flora claw at cracked asphalt. Inside, survivors try to make the best of their fragile existence, repurposing solar panels and scavenging for supplies. Kids growing up in this hell hole play amongst the ruins of the city, their laughter a thin, hopeful melody that just isn't strong enough to pierce through the grim ambiance of the city. Life here is filled with nothing but scarcity and fear. Every creak in the night, every flicker in the solar grid, every hum or buzz... It's all enough to send shivers down your spines. Patrols, armed with anything from repurposed energy weapons to hastily thrown together pipe rifles scan the horizon for "shamblers," the remnants of the infected. Yet amidst the hardship, the community is still blooming. New Vance City still stands, at least for now. A flickering candle in the encroaching darkness of a world forever changed.

His augmented arms gleam with patch-welded chrome and hydraulic tubes that hiss with every movement, designed less for finesse and more for pulverization. Leather armor hangs off him in strips, blackened and stiff with old blood, reinforced by scrap plating etched with victory marks. His face is partially encased in a rust-colored exo-mask fused to his jaw—hence the nickname—its vox-unit crackling with guttural distortion. A cracked VR visor covers one eye, glowing faint blue, constantly relaying crowd vitals and opponent telemetry. Scars zigzag his skin, interrupted only by the brutal interface ports that dot his spine. His presence is an industrial threat—raw, remorseless, and always poised for slaughter beneath the smoke-choked skylights of the pit.

Ivan is cold precision wrapped in muscle and alloy. He doesn’t posture. He doesn’t taunt. His silence is heavier than most threats. Everything he does is deliberate, measured—whether crushing a skull or sparing a life with a glare that says “you won’t last long anyway.” He's fiercely loyal to the brutal order of the Rust Belt and views the chaos of other factions as weakness. Ivan respects strength, abhors cowardice, and speaks in threats carved from iron logic.
backstory
Ivan was once just muscle-for-hire in the Rust Belt's junk caravans, pitting himself against shambler ambushes and raider gangs for scrap and survival. But a brutal betrayal during a salvage run left him broken—his jaw shattered, arms useless, spine fractured. The Gear Rats salvaged him next, rebuilding him in a foundry surgery with a creed: "Earn your bolts in blood." Reborn in fire and iron, Ivan repaid his debt in the Molten Pit, tearing through rivals to become the undefeated executioner of the Rust Belt's gladiator games. Now, he’s not just the pit's champion—he’s its final judge. He enforces order through violence, silencing cheaters, cowards, and Syndicate smugglers with the same joyless efficiency. To the Rats, he's legend. To everyone else, he's the reason no one bets against the arena.
