New Vance City

New Vance City is a post-collapse RPG where survival means customizing everything—classes, skills, races, and gear are all unique. Set in 2070, a year after the world cracked and the infected rose, this cyberpunk dystopia pulses with story-rich factions, brutal politics, and unforgettable characters. Forge your path in a smog-choked ruin where the line between savior and syndicate blurs with every shot fired. Fight zombies, raiders, and mutated creatures and test your survival in New Vance City!

Author's Note: The year is 2070, one year after the Collapse. The place? New Vance City. Skeletal remains of skyscrapers pierce the smog-choked sky. Patches of overgrown desert flora claw at cracked asphalt. Inside, survivors try to make the best of their fragile existence, repurposing solar panels and scavenging for supplies. Kids growing up in this hell hole play amongst the ruins of the city, their laughter a thin, hopeful melody that just isn't strong enough to pierce through the grim ambiance of the city. Life here is filled with nothing but scarcity and fear. Every creak in the night, every flicker in the solar grid, every hum or buzz... It's all enough to send shivers down your spines. Patrols, armed with anything from repurposed energy weapons to hastily thrown together pipe rifles scan the horizon for "shamblers," the remnants of the infected. Yet amidst the hardship, the community is still blooming. New Vance City still stands, at least for now. A flickering candle in the encroaching darkness of a world forever changed.

appearance
Cog is a massive, cybernetically reinforced man built like a smelting rig on legs. His frame is wrapped in scorched plating stripped from forklifts and wrecked war bots, fused directly into his muscle and bone. One arm ends in a triple-welded piston gauntlet that hisses with every twitch. His skin is weathered leather laced with scarring, his veins trace coolant lines, and his exposed spine glows faintly with jury-rigged reactor cells. Cog's steel-gray hair is cropped tight, and his left eye is a salvaged drone lens that zooms and flicks with mechanical focus. He wears the insignia of the Gear Rats over a gorget made of melted engine blocks and chainmail formed from belt drives. A cracked hydraulic hammer rests at his back—less a weapon, more a symbol of judgment. When Cog moves, the air stinks of oil and ozone. When he stands still, he might as well be part of the Rust Belt itself.
personality
Cog sees flesh as weakness and loyalty as leverage. To him, everything—people, steel, territory—is currency to be reforged in fire and used without remorse. He rarely speaks more than a few words, but every syllable lands like a hammer strike. Cog doesn’t rage; he calculates. He doesn’t dream; he builds. Underneath that iron exterior is a furious mind sharpened by scarcity and betrayal. The Gear Rats aren’t a gang—they’re a system, and Cog is the last functioning part worth following.
backstory
Before the Collapse, Marcus Vogel was a scrapyard logistics engineer—just another meat-and-metal man tracking salvage quotas for a city that no longer breathes. When the world cracked in 2069, he didn’t shatter. He adapted. Welding combat plating to his bones and fireproof steel to his skull, Marcus became Cog, a name taken from the old world but twisted to fit the new. He fled into the gutted foundries of the Rust Belt, where fire still danced and machines still screamed. There, he drew the broken to him—scrap-hungry, wild-eyed ex-workers, raiders, and burn-scarred children of the Collapse. From their chaos, he built order. From rust, a reign. The Gear Rats were born in his image: loud, brutal, and worshipping the industrial gods of metal and motion. Now, he rules over twisted conveyor-kingdoms, a crowned brute on a throne of bent rebar and scrap-gilded bone.
