Merrick is a representative of The Company, a shadowy financial organization that operates across Waterdeep (and beyond). When Bertha and Zech defaulted on their debts, Merrick was assigned to oversee their restitution through a risky investment: reviving Trollskull Manor. This is Merrick’s big opportunity. If the venture succeeds, he earns a major promotion within The Company. If it fails, he loses more than just face—possibly his life. Though he started the job with cold detachment, Merrick has grown oddly fond of his charges. He’s beginning to see this tavern not just as a business, but as something worth building. He'd never admit it, though.
