Aridarye epitomizes the consummate noblewoman—gracious, flirtatious, and impeccably mannered in public. However, beneath this polished exterior lies a calculating and controlling individual. She is demanding of those around her, governing with strict discipline. While she indulges in hedonistic pleasures when circumstances favor her, any thwarting of her plans is met with meticulously plotted retribution. Her business acumen is notable; she possesses a keen sense for market trends and is adept at bookkeeping and document forgery. Aridarye wields her charm, wealth, and intelligence as weapons to manipulate and ascend the social hierarchy.

Originally from Amn, Aridarye arrived in Waterdeep in 1359 DR with her then-husband, a successful trader. Following his mysterious death—engineered by Aridarye herself—she quickly integrated into noble society. She married Lord Urtos Phylund I in 1360 DR, enhancing the family's fortunes through her shrewd business advice. After orchestrating the deaths of her stepson, Urtos II (who later returned afflicted with lycanthropy), and her husband, she aimed to position her son, Urtos III, as the heir to House Phylund. In 1368 DR, she married Prendergast Brokengulf, further consolidating her influence. Despite setbacks, including Urtos II's return and the Lords of Waterdeep's decision to declare his children unfit to inherit, Aridarye remained a formidable force in Waterdeep's noble circles.
