His fear of aging and obsolescence fuels his jealousy and occasional bouts of depression. As the eldest son of the Brokengulf patriarch, Prendergast was expected to lead the family. However, his passion for adventure and combat led him to relinquish this role to his younger brother, Morus I, allowing him to pursue a life as a hunter, gladiator, and agent for the family's interests. His prowess in the Field of Triumph earned him fame and respect. Prendergast's personal life is marked by scandal and intrigue. He became infatuated with Aridarye Phylund, the young stepmother of his friend Urtos Phylund II. Their affair led to a series of tragic events, including the orchestrated deaths of Urtos II and his father, Urtos I, to pave the way for Aridarye's ascent. Consumed by guilt over these actions, Prendergast's mental state deteriorated, leading to erratic behavior and further entanglements in Waterdeep's noble politics.
