Born into the noble House Margaster of Waterdeep, Alaeros's early life was marred by tragedy and hardship. At the age of nine, he was kidnapped by Luskan pirates and sold into slavery. Rescued by agents of the Lords' Alliance, he was returned to his family in Neverwinter, only to face neglect and emotional abuse from his uncle. Seeking purpose, Alaeros joined the local militia at fifteen, where he honed his combat skills. However, his noble lineage made him a target of resentment, leading to a dishonorable discharge under false accusations. Disillusioned, he became a mercenary, distancing himself from his family's tarnished reputation. A pivotal moment in his life occurred when he discovered a magical battleaxe embedded in a tree, which turned out to be a treant. During the Tyranny of Dragons, Alaeros played a crucial role in thwarting the Cult of the Dragon's plans. Their efforts culminated in the defeat of the cult's leader, Severin Silrajin, preventing the summoning of Tiamat.
