A female human wizard with an aristocratic bearing, Alathene maintains an appearance of timeless beauty through magical means. She dresses in elaborate gowns and corsets, and when interacting with staff or clients at the Blushing Mermaid, she dons a black metal mask and face veil, matching her employees' attire.

A devout worshiper of Selûne, Alathene is driven by a desire to bring her wayward twin brother, Vanrak, to justice. Her transformation into an archlich was a means to continue this quest indefinitely. She is known for her regal demeanor, unwavering commitment to her faith, and a deep sense of responsibility toward her family and followers.

Born in 1083 DR to Lord Andvarran Moonstar, Alathene co-founded the Maids of the Midnight Moon in 1099 DR, an organization of female spellcasters dedicated to Selûne. Following a schism in House Moonstar, where her brother Vanrak turned to Shar and became a death knight, Alathene became the matriarch of the family. In 1182 DR, the High House of Stars was attacked and destroyed, an act later discovered to be orchestrated by Vanrak. Alathene stepped down as matriarch to focus on rebuilding the temple, leading to the establishment of the House of the Moon in 1188 DR. She eventually withdrew from public life, residing in the Vault of Stars and transforming into an archlich to continue her fight against her brother's dark influence.
