Nain Keenwhistler, a human wizard of Waterdeep, was a former member of the Company of Crazed Venturers, known for his numerous resurrections and his battles against powerful foes like Iyachtu Xvim. After retiring, he used his wealth to build Naingate, a tower in the Sea Ward, and became a trader and diplomat, advising the Lords of Waterdeep. He formed the Company of Staff and Steel with Shalara Malarkkin, but it lasted only two years. Nain was a close friend of notable figures like Khelben 'Blackstaff' Arunsun and Durnan, and he participated in significant events like the cleansing of the High Moor in 1374 DR. He worshiped Mystra and Tymora, and despite his shyness, he played a crucial role in the magical community of Waterdeep.
