Once the esteemed lord of House Urmbrusk, Quarren was known for his shrewd moneylending and land-buying services in Waterdeep. In 1476 DR, he abandoned his responsibilities to seek adventure in Undermountain, leaving his sister Lestra in charge and entrusting her with his son, Rutherford. Unbeknownst to him, Lestra conspired against him, bribing his companions to ensure he never returned. After years of silence, in 1479 DR, a voice resembling Quarren's began to whisper in Rutherford's ears, hinting at his father's fate and the dark secrets of House Urmbrusk.
