A male human wizard with a hunchback, Alcedor Kolat appears as a balding old man in his late 60s. He has sparkling brown eyes and is often seen wearing gray robes and a blue overcoat, which are frequently stained and disheveled. His lack of a beard sets him apart from many of his contemporaries, and his overall appearance reflects the toll of his magical crafting on his body.

Alcedor is often seen as absent-minded and distracted, deeply engrossed in his magical studies and crafting. Despite his hunchbacked appearance and age, his brown eyes sparkle with youthful curiosity. He is less social than his brother, preferring the company of his magical creations and research over social gatherings. He has a penchant for younger women, which adds to his eccentricity. Alcedor is methodical and precise in his work, embodying the traits of a lawful neutral individual who values order and structure in his magical pursuits.

Alcedor Kolat was a powerful enchanter and magical craftsman who dedicated his life to the study of Netherese magic and the creation of magical items. Born as one of the identical twin brothers in Sulmeth, he and his brother Duhlark trained at Llorbauth's Mystics' Academy before adventuring together as part of Mystra's Defenders. After a series of adventures, including a harrowing experience in Undermountain, they settled in Waterdeep, where they established Kolat Towers. However, after a series of thefts and growing paranoia, Alcedor's relationship with his brother deteriorated, leading him to leave Waterdeep by 1492 DR, never to be heard from again.
