During the Clone Wars, Mandalore was officially neutral, ruled by Duchess Satine and her pacifist New Mandalorians. Beneath the surface, tensions grew as warrior clans and the terrorist group Death Watch opposed Satine’s rule. Though not aligned with the Republic or Separatists, Mandalore became a political battleground, drawing Jedi involvement as civil unrest threatened to reignite Mandalore’s warlike past.
Mandalore’s surface is barren and scarred from past wars—rocky plains, gray skies, and little natural life. The capital, Sundari, sits inside a massive glass-domed city with elegant, angular buildings and long causeways stretching over the wasteland. Inside, clean walkways, murals, and structured order reflect its pacifist ideals, while tension simmers beneath. Outside the dome, ruins and dust serve as reminders of a violent legacy.
