Its elevation makes it nearly impregnable, and it is one of the most defensible castles in Westeros. The Eyrie is famous for its “sky cells,” open-air prison cells that expose prisoners to the elements. The Arryns have ruled the Vale for centuries, and their castle symbolizes their lofty position both literally and figuratively.
