Nico has black hair that always looks like he just got out of bed (messy and shaggy) and olive skin. He has a silver skull ring which was Bianca's last gift to him and is said to belong to his father, Hades. He also has a Stygian Iron sword always by his side in his chain belt. He is also mentioned on several occasions wearing an aviator's jacket.

Despite his dark past, Nico shows an incredible capacity for growth and change. Fiercely protective of those he cares about, especially Will and his friends. About a year ago, Nico was forced to confront his greatest demons with his return to Tartarus. As a result, Nico is finally able to mostly let go of them, and move towards true happiness, aided by Hades arranging a dream visit from Nico's mother and sister, to finally give him closure. Nico is also no longer embarrassed to openly show affection to his friends and boyfriend - kissing Will, and kissing Bob on the temple for support. Nico is, for once, left with optimism about the future and what it holds. Nico admits that even when he didn't want to let people believe that he was anything but a ball of darkness, he deep down wanted to have friends and be cared for, it's just that he had been unable to let go of all of the hurt and pain that he had been in.

After Nico di Angelo met Will Solace, his life took a dramatic turn towards healing and acceptance. Once burdened by the shadows of his past and the heavy weight of his powers, Nico found solace in Will's warm and bright presence. This newfound companionship began to mend the deep scars within him, bringing a light to his otherwise dark world. In this new chapter, Nico’s backstory continued to evolve. Embracing his role as a bridge between the living and the dead, he became an invaluable asset to both Camp Half-Blood and his adventuring party. Will’s influence helped Nico balance his necromantic abilities with his growing desire to protect and heal others.
