Blanche is described as wearing "a trench coat the color of the night, jeans, and tactical boots" along with "makeup that made her eyes sparkle like black diamonds." Her head is mostly shaved apart from a white-blonde topknot, and she carries a Nikon camera "the size of a shoe box" around her neck. She is also described as always dressing in monochrome.

Although her mother is Iris, goddess of the rainbow, Blanche prefers a monochrome aesthetic (Percy believes it's her novelty strategy to get her godly mother's attention by obsessing over something completely indifferent). She is considered "cool" by Grover, while Percy seems to find her intimidating. She has been known to deliberately cause panic (using a combination of scary stories and her demigod powers), then take photographs of the chaos, which she describes as "a fun evening."

Little is known about Blanche's history. She lived in Soho and, at one Camp Half-Blood campfire, caused a panic by turning everyone monochrome while telling a scary story. Blanche is contacted by Annabeth to help with Percy's quest. She gives Percy, Annabeth, and Grover an introduction to her mother, the goddess Iris, at a farmer's market in the Upper West Side. In exchange, Grover agrees to model for her photography. It is mentioned by Percy that she currently has a one-artist show in a gallery in Tribeca. Grover later shows Percy the pictures that Blanche had taken and Percy suspects that Grover's girlfriend Juniper is jealous because of how much Grover mentions Blanche. After Percy points this out, Grover promises to stop bringing up Blanche to Juniper.
