Ellis, like his other siblings, is seen as violent and war-like, usually a person who acts without thinking. Chiron describes him as "an impetuous young man" who was prone to running off to fulfill his own quests. However, Ellis also displays some intelligence and perceptiveness, as he was keen enough to recognize the sound coming from camp as the Colossus's footsteps, and additionally made some valid points, which Apollo remarked was a rarity for children of Ares.

Ellis Wakefield is a Greek demigod son of Ares. Ellis was listed as one of the campers who mysteriously vanished. Chiron said that he had first presumed that he had charged off without thinking. Ellis and the rest of the missing campers were revealed to be held captive by Nero, who wanted them to burn along with the Grove of Dodona. Apollo made Austin Lake free Ellis and the other half-bloods from their binds. Ellis, once freed, is seen balling his fists, walking around like he wanted to punch someone. During the demigods' brief discussion, Ellis was able to identify the thunderous noise coming from the distance as the footsteps of a war machine.
