Tempest has grizzled hair covering her eyes with bony hands, and a charcoal-colored sackcloth dress. Instead of eyes, they have closed, sunken eyelids, with their single shared eye being bloodshot and green, while their single shared tooth is a mossy yellow incisor. Her voice can be described as weird and mumbling, like each one of them had just had a shot of Novocain.

Each Gray Sister normally lead to fights between them over who gets control of the eye, but they normally take turns. They also have a lingering distrust for heroes.

Tempest is one of the three Gray Sisters, who shares an eye and a tooth with her sisters, Anger and Wasp. They also go by other variations of the name such as "Gray Witches" or the Graeae and are considered to be the sisters of the Gorgons. She and her sisters drive the Chariot of Damnation, or the Gray Sisters' Taxi as it is called in New York. The Gray Sisters previously drove Percy Jackson, Annabeth Chase, Tyson, the original Jason, Apollo, Meg McCaffrey, Austin Lake and Kayla Knowles.
