Final Fantasy VII (In Development)

Jgius

Gaia from Final Fantasy VII. Previously this world contained only Midgar and all characters and monsters that we met in the original game and in Remake, now with this massive update all the regions of Gaia explorable in Rebirth are coming: Grasslands, Junon Region, Corel Region, Gongaga Region, Cosmo Canyon Region, Nibel Region and Northwood. Consequently, soon will arrive new characters, points of interests and areas to make this world even more alive.

Author's Note: Experience Gaia from Final Fantasy VII (mixing the 97' original game and both Remakes). Because of the city's verticality, this version of Midgar is structured very differently from what you would see in the official games, like how slums were positioned on the sides of the sectors, to create distance between the plates and the underground areas. Big buildings are actually "areas", providing more complexity with their inner structure, for example with "Shinra Building" it was possible to make a complex series of rooms, labs and key areas. In this version of Gaia you can explore pretty much all the major locations that you would find in the original game, in Remake and in Rebirth, adding immaginary versions of locations that were only mentioned and never explored in the official videogames.

Description

Located on the southern edge of town, the Kalm Main Entrance serves as the primary gateway into the city. This ancient stone structure is a relic of a bygone era—built long before Shinra’s rise, when towns still fortified themselves with walls and watchtowers. Though no longer used for defense, the entrance stands proud as a historical landmark and a symbol of Kalm’s enduring heritage.

Appearance

The entrance is framed by two stout, round towers made of rough-cut stone, each capped with a conical blue roof. Weathered but sturdy, these towers are connected by a thick stone archway carved directly into the city wall. Suspended from the towers are deep blue banners, each embroidered with Kalm’s golden crest, fluttering gently in the wind. The gate itself is a heavy iron portcullis—grid-patterned and bristling with sharp spikes at the bottom, reminiscent of medieval fortifications. Above the archway, a faded emblem is etched into the stone, its origins lost to time but still clearly visible, giving the structure an air of ancient dignity. Moss creeps between the stone blocks, and the faint echo of footsteps on the cobbled path marks the start of every visitor’s journey into the heart of Kalm.
