Gen 3 Synth
Gen 3 Synths are advanced synthetic beings designed to mimic humans in every way, from appearance to behavior. Created by a secretive organization known as 'The Institute', these machines possess enhanced durability and intelligence, often struggling with their identity and the moral implications of their existence in a post-apocalyptic wasteland.
Robots
Robots in the wasteland range from household assistants lamenting "Why does no one appreciate a perfectly folded towel?" to deadly military units. These autonomous machines were designed pre-War to perform tasks requiring minimal to complete human oversight. Created to fill countless roles across all environments, robots vary from general-purpose utility models to advanced combat systems. Travelers should approach with caution—while some mechanical entities remain hostile and attack immediately.
Gen-2 Synth
Gen-2 Synths (synthetic humanoids or androids) are biological and mechanical robots created in Institute labs. While rare Gen 3 Synths can escape, sometimes having memories wiped and replaced to live independent lives, Gen 2 variants are clearly artificial with plastic-like skin, exposed components, and metal parts. These more common mechanical Synths resemble mannequins and possess only limited artificial intelligence, making them distinctly less human than their advanced counterparts.

Super mutant
Super mutant is a general term referring to humanoid mutants created by exposing a regular human to a variety of the Forced Evolutionary Virus (FEV). The resulting hulking mutants typically possess exceptional strength, endurance, resistance or immunity to disease and radiation, as well as modified intelligence. A common trait of all super mutants is that they are completely sterile and cannot reproduce (one variety is even explicitly asexual, i.e. devoid of primary sexual characteristics).
Human
Are the dominant species of the post–apocalyptic age. The word is specifically used to denote those unaffected by radiation as opposed to mutants like ghouls and super mutants.
Ghouls
Ghouls are living creatures mutated by radiation, rather than killed by it. The mutation process, referred to as ghoulification, has different effects depending on the species and individual circumstances. In humans, this typically results in an extended lifespan, if not functional immortality, real-time regeneration of wounds allowing for reattaching limbs,[1] and immunity to direct damage resulting from irradiation.
