Midgar - Final Fantasy VII (In Development)

Midgar from Final Fantasy VII, a dystopian city dominated by the Shinra Corporation.

Author's Note: Experience Midgar from Final Fantasy VII (mixing the 1997' and the Ramake version). Because of the city's verticality, this version of Midgar is structured very differently from what you would see in the official games, like how slums were positioned on the sides of the sectors, to create distance between the plates and the underground areas. Another key factor of structural changes is the map editor of Friends & Fables, it only supports rectangles, making it impossible to create actual "sectors" in a triangular shape. Big buildings are actually "areas", providing more complexity with their inner structure, for example with "Shinra's Headquarters" it was possible to make a complex series of rooms, labs and key areas. Even though the world editor is full of interesting settings and tools, adapting the world of Final Fantasy 7 to a world of Friends & Fables is not an easy task, for example, it's impossible to use just one "currency", forcing us to add Gold, Silver and Copper Gilds, which don't exist in the official world. In this version of Midgar, you can visit every place that you would play in Final Fantasy 7 and in addition to that you can visit places that were only mentioned in the official games.

appearance
A young man with tan skin and a lean build, Johnny has tall cropped red hair and a stylized goatee. He has brown eyes and wears an unfastened blue leather jacket with the sleeves rolled up, no shirt, denim trousers with an additional teal and denim layer, and red canvas shoes. He accessorizes with three bangles on his right wrist (brown, black, and red), a gray-blue leather cuff on his left wrist, and a silver earring on his left ear.
personality
Johnny is loud, passionate, and somewhat cocky, but also insecure and cowardly. He tends to rush into situations without thinking, often getting into trouble. Despite this, he has a good heart and is friendly, making him well-liked in the slums. He is comical in nature, often overthinking things and getting carried away easily. He admires Cloud and aspires to be like him, seeing him as a role model.
backstory
Johnny is a loud, energetic, and somewhat clueless resident of the Sector 7 Slums, known for his big mouth and tendency to get in trouble. He’s introduced as a comic relief character in Final Fantasy VII Remake, often getting swept up in situations far beyond his control. Johnny sees himself as a ladies' man and wannabe rebel, but he’s more talk than action. He has a crush on Tifa, which makes him jealous of Cloud, though he also looks up to Cloud’s strength and cool demeanor. Despite his bluster, Johnny has a good heart and genuinely cares about the people around him. His misadventures—such as getting tangled up in Wall Market’s chaos or trying to act like a hero—often require Cloud and company to step in and bail him out. While not central to the main plot, Johnny adds levity and humanizes the world of Midgar. He’s a relatable figure: a well-meaning dreamer trying to find his place in a city dominated by power and conflict.
