Final Fantasy VII (In Development)

Jgius

Gaia from Final Fantasy VII. Previously this world contained only Midgar and all characters and monsters that we met in the original game and in Remake, now with this massive update all the regions of Gaia explorable in Rebirth are coming: Grasslands, Junon Region, Corel Region, Gongaga Region, Cosmo Canyon Region, Nibel Region and Northwood. Consequently, soon will arrive new characters, points of interests and areas to make this world even more alive.

Author's Note: Experience Gaia from Final Fantasy VII (mixing the 97' original game and both Remakes). Because of the city's verticality, this version of Midgar is structured very differently from what you would see in the official games, like how slums were positioned on the sides of the sectors, to create distance between the plates and the underground areas. Big buildings are actually "areas", providing more complexity with their inner structure, for example with "Shinra Building" it was possible to make a complex series of rooms, labs and key areas. In this version of Gaia you can explore pretty much all the major locations that you would find in the original game, in Remake and in Rebirth, adding immaginary versions of locations that were only mentioned and never explored in the official videogames.

Description

Hidden within a seaside cave system a few hundred meters west of the open ocean, Grasslands Port is a modest but vital docking point for small vessels navigating the coast. Sheltered from storms and unseen from above, it serves as a discreet stop for fishermen, couriers, and the occasional traveler seeking a quieter route inland. Though humble in size, the port plays a key role in connecting the inland grasslands to the sea.

Appearance

Nestled inside a natural rock cavern, the Grasslands Port is dimly lit by a single tall lamppost at the cave’s entrance—its rusted frame topped with a glowing lantern bearing the symbol of an anchor. The soft light reflects off the cavern walls and the calm waters below, casting dancing shadows across the stone. A small wooden dock juts out into the sheltered cove, just long enough for a few boats to moor side by side. Crates, ropes, and scattered nets hint at recent activity, but the atmosphere remains quiet and secluded. The distant roar of ocean waves can be heard echoing through the tunnel that leads westward toward open water, giving the place a sense of connection to the world beyond while remaining tucked safely within the rocks.
