Final Fantasy VII (In Development)

Jgius

Gaia from Final Fantasy VII. Previously this world contained only Midgar and all characters and monsters that we met in the original game and in Remake, now with this massive update all the regions of Gaia explorable in Rebirth are coming: Grasslands, Junon Region, Corel Region, Gongaga Region, Cosmo Canyon Region, Nibel Region and Northwood. Consequently, soon will arrive new characters, points of interests and areas to make this world even more alive.

Author's Note: Experience Gaia from Final Fantasy VII (mixing the 97' original game and both Remakes). Because of the city's verticality, this version of Midgar is structured very differently from what you would see in the official games, like how slums were positioned on the sides of the sectors, to create distance between the plates and the underground areas. Big buildings are actually "areas", providing more complexity with their inner structure, for example with "Shinra Building" it was possible to make a complex series of rooms, labs and key areas. In this version of Gaia you can explore pretty much all the major locations that you would find in the original game, in Remake and in Rebirth, adding immaginary versions of locations that were only mentioned and never explored in the official videogames.

Description

Perched on the towering cliffs at the northeastern edge of the Grasslands, the Grasslands Watchtower offers one of the most breathtaking views in the region. From its peak, one can see the entire expanse of the Grasslands and the distant line where the land meets the ocean horizon. Though recently abandoned and no longer manned, the tower remains in excellent condition—its purpose faded, but its presence still commanding.

Appearance

The watchtower rises from a sturdy stone base, a narrow cylindrical structure built from smooth, weathered stone. It overlooks a dramatic drop to the ocean below, surrounded by nothing but wind, sky, and silence. At the foot of the tower, a small stone monument shaped like a ship’s wheel stands as a tribute—its meaning unclear, but clearly of sentimental or historical importance. The site is enclosed by a rusted iron fence, locked with a heavy chain and padlock across the main gate. However, signs of recent trespassing are visible—one section of the fence bears a hidden hole, large enough for a person to slip through. Despite being officially abandoned, the tower itself remains well-preserved: its interior clean, its stairs intact, and its observation platform still stable. With the wind whipping through the air and the sea stretching out endlessly beyond the cliffs, the Grasslands Watchtower feels like a forgotten sentinel—silent, enduring, and utterly majestic.
