A female gnome arcane apprentice with wild frizz of copper hair crackling with static, kept in check by a crown of fizzling runestones. She is barely three feet tall, buried beneath seven overlapping layers of enchanted silk armor dyed in shades of violet, blue, and silver, stitched with shimmer-thread sigils. Her oversized, triple-lensed goggles are enchanted to see arcane flux and gas density. She carries a scroll case slung across her back like a quiver, and her hands are always ink-stained from quick-drawn glyphs.
personality
Petta is an anxious perfectionist wrapped in a cocoon of magical redundancies. She checks her gear three times before entering a tunnel and will cancel a commission if the terrain feels 'emotionally suspicious.' Despite her intense need for control, she is earnest and kind, especially to junior workers, whom she insists be fitted with emergency signal charms of her own design. She uses humor to cope, often joking about 'dying dramatically in a fireball of her own genius.'
backstory
Petta Drimnock used to be a brilliant and voerly confident arcane apprentice who was assigned to seal a minor rift left behind by a burrower swarm in the Handle. During the operation, she had miscalculated a gas pocket's resonance with her rune patterns which caused a chain reaction of explosions that collapsed two side tunnels and caused weeks worth of blockage and delays in one of the Ashcoats' main armor supply lines. She was pulled from the rubble by a passing delver crew and was nearly blacklisted by the Cudgel from any fieldwork. They only kept her because her skill with sealing glyphs was just too valuable. Since the explosion, Petta has become infectiously paranoid. She would create meticulus personal protocols before accepting any job, refusing to operate unless at least three alternative exits are identified, mapped, and warded in advance. At least her reputation has changed. She's no longer known as the "blunder mage" as most refer to her as the "safety fanatic" now.
