Veccel is unnervingly composed, a man who speaks only when words will accomplish more than silence. He is deeply observant, rarely blinking, and always calculating routes of retreat and confrontation even during small talk. To stewards, he is a perfectionist but protective; to guards, he is a phantom who knows their orders before they’re spoken. He respects hierarchy but is loyal only to function—he ensures the estate runs smoothly and safely, and anything outside that is distraction. Veccel distrusts politics and speaks of the Council with professional detachment, though he is quietly loyal to Regent Thorneveil for reasons he keeps close. He dislikes clutter, emotional outbursts, and people who leave doors half-shut. To those who pry too deeply, Veccel’s smile comes too fast—and fades too slow.
backstory
Veccel Erynth was born to a laundry mistress and a disfavored noble’s scribe, raised in the shadowed wings of Odrun Fell’s estates. Groomed in observation more than privilege, he absorbed the cadences of silence and the art of moving without presence. He began as a hall page, then advanced to steward under Regent Myra Thorneveil’s tenure, selected for his quiet efficiency and perfect memory. Though officially unaffiliated with any guild, Veccel has been approached—subtly—by all of them. He never accepts, though he keeps a mental tally of each offer. Within the Converging Hall, Veccel is a constant: a man who knows who met with whom, when, and how long they stayed. He files no reports, yet nothing within the estate escapes his notice. He manages guard rotations, intercepts brewing tensions, and ensures that nobles and servants alike never cross paths unless intended. His role is unseen—until it isn't.
