FriendsAndFables

A city built in a fallen god-weapon, where guilds rule, delvers vanish, and every choice echoes through tunnels of chitin, ash, and ambition. Welcome to Odrun Fell, a Friends and Fables adventure!

Author's Note: Welcome to Odrun Fell, a Friends and Fables adventure into a world carved from myth and bone, where a shattered god-weapon's remains fuel a city of ambition, ritual, and ruin. From the lacquered towers of the Sprigs to the ichor-slick markets of the Barrows, every breath in this living graveyard is measured in trade, loyalty, and danger. Here, delvers vanish into the greatclub tunnels, masked beasts drift through haunted groves, and the softest words can carry more weight than any blade. The guilds squabble for dominance, adventurers bleed for coin or cause, and the club itself waits beneath it all like a buried truth. This game is a journey into beauty and rot, into candlelit politics and chitin-armored survival. Whether you walk with Cudgel steel, Promissory blades, or Barley-bred spiders on your shoulder, your choices will echo through the halls of power and the bones of the world. Odrun Fell is a city of many doors, how will you play in this adventure? Thank you for playing Friends and Fables!

appearance
Messa is short and wiry, with sun-darkened skin and a tangle of dirt-brown curls tied back with a fraying strip of silk. Her left leg drags slightly, wrapped in mismatched leathers over a crude splint reinforced with beetle chitin. She wears a patchy brown vest over a stained green tunic, both too large, clearly looted from a traveler. Her belt is weighed with pouches—most filled with snares, nails, or fungus dust for marking trails. A dented dagger hangs loose in a bone-scabbard at her hip, and a crossbow missing half its grip is always slung at her back. Her eyes are pale hazel, constantly scanning, and her smile is crooked but quick, like a reflex she never learned to smother. She smells faintly of moss, sweat, and the faint sting of old, half-healed ointments. Even when resting, Messa never fully relaxes—like someone who knows the forest might turn on her at any moment.
personality
Messa is sharp-tongued, fast-talking, and always two steps ahead—at least in her mind. She's fiercely loyal to her ragtag gang at Lanternrest, especially the younger bandits who remind her of her old crew. She masks her trauma with jokes and bravado, but the resentment she carries for the Cudgel and the city never fully leaves her eyes. She’s twitchy, always fidgeting, never still for long, and carries herself with the coiled energy of someone used to sprinting away from collapses and worse. She doesn’t enjoy robbing people, but it beats starving or watching another tunnel take her last working limb. Messa sees the inn as her last chance to control her own fate—however small her role may be. She has no illusions of grandeur, just a hope that one day she’ll be more than a footnote in someone else’s story.
backstory
Messa Tunn was once a lantern-runner for a hauling crew in Odrun Fell, dashing through bug-choked corridors to deliver supplies and warnings ahead of delves. She was good at it too—until a collapse in the tunnel left her leg pinned beneath a broken chitin beam. Her crew made it out. She didn’t. It was two days before she dragged herself to safety. The injury never healed right, leaving her with a crooked gait and a deep loathing for the Hilt’s silence when she begged for reassignment. She drifted through the Slough, then into Murkrun, where she joined a ragged band squatting in the abandoned Lanternrest Inn. There, she found something resembling family again—other ex-delvers and failures with nowhere else to go. She guards the back trail now, laying traps, watching the woods, and warning her crew of approaching trouble like she used to in the tunnels. Except this time, she charges a toll for safety.
