FriendsAndFables

A city built in a fallen god-weapon, where guilds rule, delvers vanish, and every choice echoes through tunnels of chitin, ash, and ambition. Welcome to Odrun Fell, a Friends and Fables adventure!

Author's Note: Welcome to Odrun Fell, a Friends and Fables adventure into a world carved from myth and bone, where a shattered god-weapon's remains fuel a city of ambition, ritual, and ruin. From the lacquered towers of the Sprigs to the ichor-slick markets of the Barrows, every breath in this living graveyard is measured in trade, loyalty, and danger. Here, delvers vanish into the greatclub tunnels, masked beasts drift through haunted groves, and the softest words can carry more weight than any blade. The guilds squabble for dominance, adventurers bleed for coin or cause, and the club itself waits beneath it all like a buried truth. This game is a journey into beauty and rot, into candlelit politics and chitin-armored survival. Whether you walk with Cudgel steel, Promissory blades, or Barley-bred spiders on your shoulder, your choices will echo through the halls of power and the bones of the world. Odrun Fell is a city of many doors, how will you play in this adventure? Thank you for playing Friends and Fables!

appearance
Brinnel is a heavy-set man with a chest like a barrel and shoulders that seem too wide for most doorways. His hands are calloused bricks, stained with old tunnel grime that never quite washed out. His nose is crooked from an old cave-in, and his brow is permanently furrowed, making him look perpetually skeptical. A sleeveless jerkin made from stitched scavenger hide hangs over his frame, and his boots are patched with glowing fungus leather that pulses faintly when he walks. A thick wooden club, once a broken table leg, is always slung over his shoulder, studded with iron nails and teeth marks. He smells like ash, moss, and the bitter tang of old sweat. When he sits by the firelight of the inn’s broken hearth, the glow paints his scarred face in gold and shadow—like a statue left behind by something that used to protect this place, and maybe still does.
personality
Brinnel isn’t slow—just simple. He sees the world in physical terms: if a thing breaks, it wasn’t strong enough; if a person yells, they’re scared. He doesn’t like lies or fast talk and often stares people into silence before asking the same question again: “Coin or trouble?” He’s protective of the other bandits, particularly the ones smaller than him, and treats the inn like a half-ruined temple where he can keep watch and be left alone. Loud noises or cave-like spaces send him into quiet, shaking rages, so he avoids the inn’s cellar and won’t sleep near walls. He likes sitting by the firepit, watching fungi glow, and hammering spare lantern brackets into the doorframe like he's rebuilding something no one else can see.
backstory
Brinnel Darr was a tunnel hauler in Odrun Fell—strong-backed, thick-skulled, and dependable until a cave-in crushed the rest of his crew and left him buried for a day beneath a spill of stone and insect husks. After digging himself free, something in Brinnel snapped. He refused to go back underground, refused the Cudgel’s reassignment offer, and instead wandered out toward the edge of the Murkrun. There, he was taken in by the misfit crew now running the Lanternrest Inn. Brinnel found that standing in the open air, watching the forest path and extorting tolls with a heavy club, gave him a strange kind of peace. He doesn’t talk much about his past—or anything, really—but he’s always the first to block the road and the last to let someone through without paying. He’s not cruel, but he’s not gentle either. Lanternrest gave him solid ground again, and that’s all he cares about.
