FriendsAndFables

A city built in a fallen god-weapon, where guilds rule, delvers vanish, and every choice echoes through tunnels of chitin, ash, and ambition. Welcome to Odrun Fell, a Friends and Fables adventure!

Author's Note: Welcome to Odrun Fell, a Friends and Fables adventure into a world carved from myth and bone, where a shattered god-weapon's remains fuel a city of ambition, ritual, and ruin. From the lacquered towers of the Sprigs to the ichor-slick markets of the Barrows, every breath in this living graveyard is measured in trade, loyalty, and danger. Here, delvers vanish into the greatclub tunnels, masked beasts drift through haunted groves, and the softest words can carry more weight than any blade. The guilds squabble for dominance, adventurers bleed for coin or cause, and the club itself waits beneath it all like a buried truth. This game is a journey into beauty and rot, into candlelit politics and chitin-armored survival. Whether you walk with Cudgel steel, Promissory blades, or Barley-bred spiders on your shoulder, your choices will echo through the halls of power and the bones of the world. Odrun Fell is a city of many doors, how will you play in this adventure? Thank you for playing Friends and Fables!

appearance
Caldus has a wiry build and smoke-marked fingers, his knuckles always ink-stained or bandaged. His dark hair is a tousled mop cut with a borrowed knife, and his eyes are a burnished bronze—keen, restless, and full of city-light. He wears a patched-up tunic over chitin-threaded shoulder wraps, and a belt crowded with vials of powdered fungi, wax-sealed scrolls, and broken quills. His robes are secondhand, too big at the sleeves and hemmed with scorch marks. A handmade charm—just a beetle shell threaded on twine—hangs from his neck. His wand is warped bone capped with a dull gem, buzzing faintly with overuse. He moves with the springy, dodging gait of someone who’s used to getting out of trouble by running or talking. Caldus smells faintly of broth, ozone, and chalk dust. He’s a wizard of the Reach—unrefined, determined, and full of the kind of magic that grows best from cracked stone.
personality
Caldus is bright, scrappy, and impossible not to root for. He’s quick with a joke, quicker with a favor, and always on the lookout for someone to share a meal or a plan with. He hides his doubts behind a confident smirk, but those who get close see the boy who learned magic while dodging rats and creditors. He values honesty, improvisation, and the kind of smarts that come from living poor, not being taught rich. Caldus has no love for the guilds, but he won’t curse them either—not when folks from the Barrows keep getting lured in and chewed up. He believes people can be better if given the right nudge and enough soup. In danger, he’s surprisingly bold—his courage isn't loud, but it holds the line. He wants magic that matters, spells that do something, and if that means breaking a few scrolls or rules, so be it.
backstory
Caldus Rell was born above a steam pot. His mother ran a broth stall in the Reach, and his earliest memories are of stirring worm-spine and watching glyphs dance in the rising vapor. Too poor for formal arcane schooling, he taught himself from discarded scroll fragments and overheard Cudgel chants, using soot-smeared walls as chalkboards. A local scrapper once found him copying spell patterns into the dirt with a rib bone and, instead of mocking him, gave him a ruined wand with a cracked core. He’s been mending himself ever since. Caldus’s magic is messy but brilliant—equal parts grit and guesswork. He casts like a cook improvises a recipe, trusting feel over form, heat over theory. Now, with a stitched satchel and a notebook of half-correct spells, he’s ready to see what’s beyond the Barrows. He doesn’t want to be a hero. He just wants to make sure the Reach is never forgotten again.
